Our main role as Acoustics, Noise & Vibration Engineers is to provide consulting and applied research services in the fields of Architectural, Interior and Environmental Acoustics, as well as Engineering Acoustics and Noise and Vibration Control. We can also provide integrated Audio Visual design consultancy services undertaken with our Associates in Malaysia and Singapore when there are such requirements in a project.
The Institute of Noise & Vibration (INV) is a centre of excellence of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia established in 1992 offering technical services and industrial research of the University in noise, vibration and seismic engineering to industry. It is recognised as a referral centre by the industry and government agencies for noise, vibration and seismic engineering in the country. Personnel of the Institute are leading authorities in this specialised field in the region. The Institute is a self-financing autonomous business unit of the University. The Institute consists of highly experienced academic faculty members and full-time consulting professionals undertaking all technical services of the Institute. Consulting projects and other assignments are often secured on a referral basis from the industry and government agencies. We are the preferred technical partners in noise & vibration for GLCs, MNCs and industry leaders in oil & gas, power generation, infrastructure development and construction.
Acustica Sdn Bhd | AV Technology Sdn Bhd are both associate companies of INV and were incorporated in 2017 & 1985 respectively. AV Technology being the first and longest established Acoustics professional consultancy practice in Malaysia. Ever since its incorporation, we had been operated as a fully independent Malaysian company and had the honour of participating in many of the country’s major projects since 1985.
The services cover all aspects of Acoustics, and Noise & Vibration:
- Building Acoustics relating to the transmission and control of sound through building elements
- Architectural Acoustics relating to reverberation and the acoustics environment in enclosed spaces
- Environmental Acoustics relating to propagation of sound in the environment
- Engineering Acoustics relating to the control of noise and vibration of mechanical equipment, and including M&E building services
- Industrial Noise & Vibration Control relating to the control of noise and vibration in industrial facilities and equipment
- Machinery Vibration Monitoring and Troubleshooting relating to the analysis of mechanical faults in rotating machines
- Audio-Visual Systems Design for conference and convention centres, auditorium, halls, ballrooms and meeting rooms
Our design work is supported by extensive and comprehensive use of computer analysis and modelling for all acoustics, noise and vibration aspects. We put into practice our strong belief that there must also be an engineering basis of design such that cost-effective solutions could be investigated and developed. The formulation of such solutions and design options can only be undertaken when supported by numerical and computational analysis. We are of the opinion that our analytical, computational and modelling resources and experience have no equal in this region.
These include the following:
- Sound transmission loss predictions and sound isolation analysis correlated with extensive laboratory and field testing over 30 years of actual installations
- Rainfall impact sound predictions on roofing constructions correlated against field and controlled simulated rainfall testings
- Reverberation time analysis (using in-house developed software)
- Acoustics modelling of internal spaces including electro-acoustics simulation of sound systems (using EASE)
- Sound propagation analysis and environmental noise modelling (using in-house developed software CADYNA)
- Sound transmission loss predictions (using in-house developed sub- routines)
- Aircraft noise contours (using FAA INM software)
- Sound system design integrated with reverberation time analysis, loudspeaker selection
- Dynamic Analysis of Structures using Finite Element Analysis
- Vibration analysis of machines mounted on elevated floor slab (using FEA and an in-house developed software)
- Railways vibration propagation analysis (using in-house developed software and Finite Element Analysis)
- Natural frequencies, mode shapes, response and stability of real rotor systems (using FEA and Transfer Matrices software)
