Hotel Development and Apartments

Hotels are highly building services orientated and this presents a particularly difficult challenge in acoustical design, as some of the key ingredients to the success of Hotels are good environment, amenities, and high-quality facilities. This necessitates the considerations of:

  • Room privacy, particularly for interconnected rooms
  • Sound insulation of building facades for traffic noise
  • Air conditioning noise and exterior traffic noise reduction
  • Overall M&E services noise and vibration control
  • Interior acoustics of F & B outlets
  • Interior acoustics and sound insulation design of Ballrooms and Function Rooms, and partitioned spaces
  • Sound system, SIS, Conferencing, and video systems design
  • Main plant room and roof deck equipment
  • Car park and other main ventilation system
  • Noise control from recreational areas to critical hotel spaces
  • Noise generation from light-weight building and roofing structures

 

Apartments, and in particular high-end apartments and condominiums are in many instances similar to hotel developments with respect acoustics of the respective units. This requires considerations of:

  • Sound insulation of building facades and in particular glazing selection
  • Airborne sound insulation between apartments
  • Impact sound insulation between apartments in the vertical direction
  • M&E services noise and vibration reduction
